One In Three Americans Has Prediabetes
According to Jenny Craig® and the CDC, 86 million Americans now have prediabetes—that’s 1 out of 3 adults! Of those 86 million, 9 out of 10 of them don’t even know they have it. Without intervention, 15% to 30% of people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within 5 years. With numbers like that, it’s important to learn about prediabetes and take action.
Get Your Prediabetes Score
A person with prediabetes has a blood sugar level higher than normal, and is at higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes and other serious health problems, including heart disease, and stroke.  To find out if you are at risk, take the seven question prediabetes quiz and get your prediabetes score.
Risk Factors
Risk factors for prediabetes include: being 45 years of age or older, being overweight/obese, having family history, or women with history of gestational diabetes or having given birth to a baby of more than 9 pounds.
Prevention
If you do have prediabetes, research shows that doing just two things can help you prevent or delay type 2 diabetes: Lose 5% to 7% of your body weight, which would be 10 to 14 pounds for a 200-pound person; and get at least 150 minutes each week of physical activity, such as brisk walking.
